Entrepreneurship Development at Apex

Masters of Business Administration (MBA) students of Apex College organized second edition of Apex Entrepreneurship Development Program form August 03 to August 11, 2016. More than 70 enthusiastic MBA students participated in this mega event. The program aimed to foster entrepreneurial skills and spirit of the students, leading to a successful new venture creation. Sushmit Group sponsored the program along with co-sponsors Clock b Business Innovation and Chaur Recreational Center, Bansbhari, Kathmandu.
Ms. Prashnna Basnet and Managing Director of Cotton Mills explained her journey that of being entrepreneur and establishing her venture. In her words, doing something with passion would only bring success. The following day was joined by Ms. Sajal Pradhan, social entrepreneur and managing director of ‘Best Pani’ enlightened on building blocks of social entrepreneurship. She firmly said, ‘Business Venture can also deliver social value’. ‘Selling Day’ of the event made students put their stalls in college premises to do business. It was observed by Chairman of Apex College, Professors, Senior Executive Members, Faculties, Staffs and Students.
The fourth day hosted idea generation and interactive session with venture capitalist Mr. Sushil Pokharel, CEO of Sushmit group and Mr. Shisheer Bhatta Managing Director of TBI Group. Mr. Pokharel presented on the concept of venture capital and organization of venture capital funded business. Mr. Pokharel clarified on stages of venture capital funding with ‘Seed Financing, Earn Stage Financing, Expansion Financing and IPO Financing’.
Participants were embraced with one of the newest concepts to incorporate their ventures. Speaking at the event he said, ‘Not only quality of ideas are required to receive venture capital funding but also efficient management and organization of business is essential’.
 Mr. Shiseer Bhatta expressed that ‘Business ideas should be solution to business problem’. He was also in the favor of being innovative. The participants were motivated by the fact that every ordinary business can escalate its value with innovation. On the upcoming day, the participants pitched ideas on their prospective prototype of business. There were welcoming ideas on Wedding Planning, Hydroponics, Sanitary Pads, movable Public Toilet with Digital Marketing, Organic Bee Farming and movable Fast Food Vehicle chain. The participants pitched their ideas The seventh day of the event featured business prototype exhibition all day long on college premises. The exhibition was observed by Principal, Mr. L P Bhanu Sharma, Senior Executive Members, faculties, staffs and more than 500 students. Throughout the event, activities like management games, business cases, quizzes, video presentations, open forum discussions, debate and interactive sessions were covered to enhance creativity, critical thinking and innovative ideas.   
Final day of the event was conducted on August 11, 2016. Mr. Saurav Basnet, Apex MBA alumni, Operations Director and Co-owner of ‘Whoopeland Amusement and Water Park’ provided real time insights to successful business venture creation. Finally the winner was announced. House Greyjoy representing ‘Sterilized Sanitary Pad’ business won Apex Entrepreneurship Development Program 2016. The winner received cash price Rupees 20,000. House Targrayan with venture idea of ‘Hydroponics’ became first the runner. House Stark who encompassed prototype module of Public Toilet with Digital Marketing concept was declared winner of Prototype Day after having secured highest number of votes.
